Scuppernong Snowshoe Outing

Saturday,  January 15

Stretch your legs and warm your spirit while snowshoeing the wooded trails of Scuppernong, south of Dousman, Wis. Choosing from three different trails, our group will decide at the parking lot trailhead whether to hike the easy red trail (2 miles), the intermediate orange trail (4.2 miles), the advanced green trail (5.4 miles) or our own combination of the trails, along with connectors. The terrain is of varied elevation; generally uphill parts are short and add to the delight of the snowshoe experience.  Afterward, we will tailgate with hot tea, cider or cocoa! If you plan to attend, please email tortoiseski@wi.rr.com. If you are running late or decide to cancel, call my cell: 262-424-2924. Thanks, Carol.

Location: Scuppernong Trails, Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit, S58-W35820 County Rd. ZZ.

Directions: On highway I-94 between Madison and Milwaukee, take the Oconomowoc exit and drive south on Hwy 67 for 9.7 miles to the intersection of County Rd. ZZ; turn east (left) and go 0.3 miles to the parking lot trailhead on the north side of ZZ (Note: Do not park in the other lot on the south side of the road.)

Entrance fee: Purchase state park admission stickers online, by calling 1-888-305-0398, or at nearby Lapham Peak.

When: January 15, 10 a.m.
